FINNISH MURDERS: The Tulilahti Double Murders (PART 2)

  The Tulilahti double murders was another case that horrified Finns in the summer of 1959. The country was just healing from the murder of Kyllikki Saari, and the way that Riitta Pakkanen and Eine Nyyssönen were killed was very reminiscent of that terrible murder.  In  Part 1 , we had an in-depth look at the girls' backgrounds, and the gruesome details of their death. Also, we had a brief look at the police investigation. This time, the Finnish National Bureau of Investigations was not playing around, considering that the Saari murderer was still at large. PUBLIC OUTCRY Once news of the case spread, people flooded the campsite where the bodies were found. There were massive crowds, and people were incredibly angry.   When police started to find mass graves all over Colombia, they had to stand up and take notice of the rising body count!  How could they trace the perpetrators when the victims had no missing person reports, no families looking for them, and no identifiable dental or fingerprint records?  Some revolutionary investigation techniques were introduced in the Garavito case, let's see what they were! This monster is one of the worst serial killers in the world. His body  count is a confirmed 138 victims, with an estimate of up to 400! All of them were young children! But, this killer is not as famous or  well-known as Richard Ramirez or Ted Bundy. Who is he?  Luis Alfredo Garavito will run chills down your spine. This week was very busy in the world of investigative journalism, the Pandora Papers data leak caused furore amongst the whole world, and the news outlets reported in a frenzy. The 12 million files that were leaked to the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) reveals how the rich and famous are hiding their wealth in offshore accounts in tax haven paradises all around the world. They use clever accountants and various techniques to hide their identities, evade paying taxes to their own countries, and not report (sometimes criminally) acquired funds.   WHO: The Pandora Papers target a broad spectrum of people including, politically exposed people, celebrities, criminals, CEOs and owners of some of the largest companies, and some of the wealthiest people in the world. His crimes are not only atrocious, but numerous.  In  Part 1 , we looked at his early life and influences on how he ended up as one of the worst serial killers in America. Richard Ramirez as a young boy suffered hits in the head and an unstable home life EARLY LIFE Ricardo (Richard) Leyva Muñoz Ramírez was born on February 29th, 1960 to parents Julian and Mercedes Ramirez. He was the youngest of five children. His father was Mexican and used to be a police officer in Juarez, Mexico. However, he ended up moving to United States and was working on the Santa Fe Railroad in Texas, USA.  Julian was a hard working man, but he was susceptible to fits of anger which led to him abusing his wife and children. His mother worked in a fabric factory. While she was pregnant, she was exposed to toxic fumes from the factory, which led to the children being born with various congenital issues.
